Dr Abiy have been facing a lot of resistance and welcoming from both the government and the people in a short time; as a result new situation have been developing around him.
Abiy Ahmed Ali is an Ethiopian politician serving as the 15th and current Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 2 April 2018. He is chairman of both the ruling EPRDF (Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front) and the OPDO (Oromo Peoples' Democratic Organization), which is one of the four coalition parties of the EPRDF. Abiy is also an elected member of the Ethiopian parliament, and a member of the OPDO and EPRDF executive committees.
A former army intelligence officer, since becoming Prime Minister, Abiy has launched a wide programme of political and economic reforms.
Abiy Ahmed was born in Beshasha town in the historic Kaffa Province (in modern times Jimma Zone, Oromia Region), Ethiopia, on 15 August 1976 He grew up in both a Christian and Muslim family. His still living father, Ahmed Ali, is a Muslim Oromo who had four wives; while Abiy's deceased mother, Tezeta Wolde, was a converted Christian Amhara from Burayu just outside Addis Ababa. Abiy is the thirteenth child to his father and was the sixth and youngest child of his mother] His childhood name was Abiyot, meaning Revolution, in Amharic, a name that was sometimes given to children in the aftermath of the Derg seizure of power in 1974. The then Abiyot went to the local primary school and later continued his studies at secondary schools in Agaro town. Abiy, according to several personal reports, was always very interested in his own education and later in his life also encouraged others to learn and to improve.
While serving in the Ethiopian National Defense Force, Abiy received his first degree, a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the Microlink Information Technology College in Addis Ababa in 2001. In 2005, Abiy earned a post-graduate certificate in Cryptography at Machihe Dynamics in Pretoria, Republic of South Africa (AES encryption based on block cipher).
