Ethiopia : - Tigray People’s Democratic Movement (TPDM) return to Ethiopia to struggle peacefully
Tigray People’s Democratic Movement (TPDM) is one of the strongest armed groups who fight to topple the dictatorial regime in Ethiopia.
Tigray People’s Democratic Movement (TPDM – also known by its Tigrigna acronym “Demhit”) was founded in 2001 when President Isaias Afeworki’s regime started arming Ethiopian rebels. TPDM is described “the most important Ethiopian opposition group inside Eritrea” with “a dual function as an Ethiopian armed opposition group and a protector of the Afeworki regime.”
The group was said to have formed a union with three other Eritrea based rebels in Sept. 2015. Days later, however, its leader Mola Asgedom and about 700 fighters fled to Ethiopia.
